Arizona Tour presented by CompletelyCanadian.Com

With the help of REI, and local mountaineer Darol Kubacz, CompletelyCanadian.Com was proud to be able to host the 32nd Annual International Banff Mountain Film Festival for the second straight year in Tempe, Arizona!

Darol Kubacz talking to Festival GoersThis international festival highlighting hiking, skiing, biking, and mountain water sports, is shown in over 100 countries and to more than 130,000 anxious movie goers! Selling just fifty seats shy of a full house, the Arizona audience rallied for a great cause and awesome cinematography.

The festival this year was held in the newly built and beautiful Tempe Center of the Arts. As with other years, a key element CompletelyCanadian.Com wanted to promote and support through a joint fundraiser was Arizona native and paraplegic Darol Kubacz. Darol and his Uhuru Ascent team tried to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2007. Having to stop just short of the summit, Darol and his team turned that journey into a documentary of the event. After the world premier of Darol’s documentary, Uhuru Ascent, he and his team were on hand to answer questions and inspire all those in the audience! We are proud to report that Darol and his team have been training hard for their 2nd attempt to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro in August of 2008! We wish him all the best! For more information on Darol and his journey, please visit www.uhuruascent.com.

As with anything electronic, the only smudge on the event was a DVD player malfunction that delayed the showing of the Banff Mountain Film Festival collection. CompleteCanadian.Com would like to thank all of those who were in attendance who weathered through the glitch.
